The Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (BANOBRAS) awarded the contract as Supervising Administrative Agent (SAA) of this new highway, whose commissioning will allow a significant reduction in travel times for traffic destined for the Oaxaca Coast. In addition to facilitating the integration of the state's main tourist destinations, this new high-specification highway from the central zone of the country will facilitate the sustainable development of the region, providing the population of Oaxaca's communities with better access to public services.
The Barranca Larga Ventanilla highway is currently under construction and is scheduled to begin operating in the first half of 2023. It is approximately 105 km long, with a 12 m wide A2 section and asphalt pavement. The section includes 10 double bridges, 2 viaducts, 3 tunnels, 36 vehicular underpasses, 13 pedestrian underpasses, 35 vehicular underpasses, 22 livestock underpasses and more than 500 cross drainage works. The highway will be operated with the support of state-of-the-art intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to ensure the safety of users.
The highway will be operated under a Performance Standards model. Until the start of operation, SAA activities will focus on defining and structuring the maintenance and operation model and the performance standards to be implemented after commissioning. Once commissioned, the AAS Team will be responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance activities and verifying compliance with performance standards for a 10-year period.
In addition to the Antea Group Mexico Team, the Consortium awarded the SAA contract is made up of Senermex, Orva Ingeniería and Seden.
With this award Antea Group Spain and Latin America reinforces its experience in the management of infrastructures in operation, adding this contract to the experience acquired in the contracts in force as Supervising Administrative Agent in the toll highways Libramiento de Villahermosa, in the State of Tabasco, and Atlacomulco-Maravatío, in the States of Mexico and Michoacán.
