The "Novo Porto de Portonovo" project, drawn up by the architectural studio Redondo Valladares y Rodriguez S.L.P. and the Antea Group team, has won first prize in the competition for ideas for remodelling the port area and its surroundings organised by Portos de Galicia and the Sanxenxo Town Council.
The proposal developed seeks the integration of the port, the urban area and the beach through squares, pedestrian and green spaces and the improvement of the communication between the town and the port, as well as the promotion of the fishing activity, nautical and traditional sports.
The winning project reserves 15.533 square metres for pedestrian spaces and green areas with different types of trees and urban furniture that emphasises the humanisation of the spaces through the creation of several squares and pedestrian spaces. Likewise, the solution adopted provides a solution to the parking problem in the area with the creation of an underground car park with 300 parking spaces available on a single floor.
