Antea Group Mexico has been involved since 2021 in the development of this important project, promoted by the Federal Government, the State Government of Mexico and the Government of Mexico City, which will transform mobility in the eastern part of the Valley of Mexico.
Mexico City (Mexico).
Antea Group Mexico is carrying out project supervision activities for the executive project and construction of the new trolleybus line between Santa Martha (Mexico City) and Chalco (State of Mexico), executed in collaboration with the Federal Government, the State Government of Mexico and the Government of Mexico City. The work has been carried out by a consortium made up of Antea Group Mexico and Orva Ingeniería.
This important intervention in Mexico City's public transport system reinforces Antea Group Mexico's experience and commitment to the development of sustainable transport infrastructure, which includes participation in mobility solutions in metropolitan areas of the magnitude of Mexico City, Bogotá and Panama City.
This transport route, in the east of the Valley of Mexico, with a length of more than 18 km, will be operated in an integrated manner with the Mexico City transport system and will meet the existing demand for travel in the east of the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, providing an efficient, sustainable, safe, fast and high-quality transport alternative. This system will reduce overall travel costs and travel times for users, with an estimated 200.000 people benefiting.
The works carried out to provide the necessary infrastructure include a mixed-structure elevated viaduct over the Mexico-Puebla motorway, approximately 6 km long. When fully operational, the section will have two terminal stations and 13 intermediate stations, three elevated and ten at ground level. The Santa Martha terminal station underwent a major modernisation to integrate the new line with the Mexico City transport system, facilitating connectivity at the CETRAM (modal transfer centre) with the metro and cable bus systems, and connecting directly with the new elevated section, Acahualtepec - Santa Martha, of the trolleybus line that runs along the Ermita Iztapalapa road. At the Chalco terminal station, construction has been completed on the workshops, depots and administrative areas necessary to ensure the section's operation.
On 18 May, the new trolleybus line between Santa Martha (Mexico City) and Chalco (State of Mexico) began operating. The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, visited the works on 11 May, leading the start of pre-operational tests ahead of its inauguration.
