The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has been contracted by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of the Government of Panama as lead advisor to develop a 1,428 km intercity road program throughout the country. This Maintenance by Standards Program covers approximately 2,000 km of primary and interurban roads and is included in the National Government's Strategic Plan 2019-2024.

The IFC, following an international competitive bidding process, awarded the Antea Iberalatam Panama Branch - Pavimentos e Infraestructuras S.A.S. consortium the Technical Consultancy for the visual inspection and pre-feasibility studies of 1,400 km of interurban roads in Panama, whose product has been selected by the Government of Panama to be part of a performance-based contract under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), which will be regulated under the National Law No.93 of September 19, 2019.

Antea Group - Pavinfra will provide technical assistance during the identification and prioritization of a series of road sections grouped in packages to be developed and tendered under the PPP scheme, supported by social, environmental, technical and economic studies to be carried out by the Consortium led by Antea Group, ensuring the financial viability of the project.

With the award of this contract the Panamanian State covers several primary portions of the road network such as: the Pan-American Highway between the provinces of Veraguas and Chiriqui, road sections in the Azuero Peninsula (provinces of Los Santos and Herrera), road links starting in the Province of Chiriqui to Boquete, Bocas del Toro, Puerto de Pedregal and Puerto Armuelles, Route 3 of the Transístmica Ave. (Panama City-Colón Highway), Route 5 linking the communities of Santiago in the province of Veraguas and Canacillas in the province of Chiriquí, the Centenario Ave. between Panama City and La Chorrera Province, Omar Torrijos Ave. from Gamboa - Colón to 5th May Square-Panama City, the Madden Ave. linking Paraíso-Panamá and Gatuncillo-Colón, among others.
