Xunta de Galicia will invest 2,3 MM€ to improve accessibility at bus stops in the southern part of the metropolitan transport area of Ferrol.

On December 30, the Territorial Delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Ferrol presented the Plan to improve the safety and accessibility of bus stops on regional roads in the southern area of Ferrol, which will involve a regional investment of 2,3 MM€. The objective of the interventions to be carried out is to reinforce safety, improve the equipment of the bus stops and favor mobility and accessibility in their surroundings.

The project foresees actions at a total of 69 bus stops. Most of them, a total of 32, are located in the municipality of Neda, 17 correspond to the municipality of Mugardos, 16 to the municipality of Fene and the remaining four to the municipality of Ares.

The interventions foreseen in the project drafted by the Temporary Union of Companies Antea Group Spain and GOC will guarantee accessibility, especially for people with mobility difficulties, for which access slopes will be built and the environment of the stops will be provided with sensitive to walking pavement. In addition, the program aims to improve the connectivity of the stops through the construction of sidewalks and pedestrian paths. The equipment of the stops will also be improved, with the provision of new shelters to protect users from inclement weather, benches and ischiatic support to offer comfort to passengers while waiting.

Safety at the stops will be enhanced by enlarging the space, improving signaling and improving speed. In addition, vegetation will be removed and visibility and lighting will be improved to make them safer.
